Land O’ Lakes, Florida is an unincorporated community in Pasco County. It is located on what has become known as the “Nature Coast.” This term refers to the area from Clearwater to the Ochlockonee Bay. The term became an official reference by proclamation of Florida’s governor.
The natural wonders along the Nature Coast include an abundance of wildlife including 19 endangered or threatened species protected in their natural habitat. This area is also known for its miraculous sunsets over the Gulf of Mexico. In addition to its proximity to the Ocean, Land O’ Lakes truly is a land of beautiful lakes and an ecosystem only a lake community could offer.

Pasco County was created in 1887. According to the county’s website at http://portal.pascocountyfl.net, Pasco County, FL was named for Samuel Pasco, who served in the Confederate Army, the state legislature and in the United States Senate from 1887 to 1899. “The county has experienced significant population growth since the 1960s. The growth began along the Gulf coast but is now occurring most rapidly in areas north of Tampa.”
Pasco County is in the Gulf of Mexico. It is part of a nine-county region. The region is frequently referred to as the “Nature Coast.”
