Caladesi Island State Park is touted as America’s #1 beach. Dr. Stephen P. Leatherman (head of the National Healthy Beaches Campaign) boasts of the beach’s water quality, sand quality and beach management. He ranks the island – just off the coast of Dunedin, north of Clearwater Beach – as one of the nation’s top 10 beaches. In 2006 and again in 2007, it reached the No. 2 spot. In 2008, it was ranked Number One!
This barrier island rests along Florida’s Gulf Coast and you can only access it by boat! A ferry from Honeymoon Island will take you there. On the trip you will witness sea wildlife in its natural habitat. Look for dolphins and osprey. This island is primed for visitors.
